I used Starcraft with its 1.16.1 version and after fixing the colour issue i never had a problem with it.Īfter i changed to windows 7 ultimate 64 bits i managed to fix the colour issue with the same files, though now whenever i want to start playing it first asks me to insert the cd. Prior this OS change i could run starcraft but i had the colour issue, after checking on tons of forums for a fix i got to a file wich was refered a couple post back, the file made a reg edit wich fixed the issue, avaible for both 32 and 64 bits windows 7 versions. I recently changed my windows 7 home edition to windows 7 ultimate 64 bits.

I also have my monitor connected to me graphics card via a HDMI cable and got my LG 42inch LED LCD TV connected via HDMI cable also. Hey guys I've tried most of these solutions and they wont work for me (besides installing a second OS on a partitioned drive i find that a wast of room and time) when i launch SC my main monitor screen goes black and even if i alt tab it stays black i need to unplug the power socket in order to get a picture even wile the game is minimized and I've tried this wile in-game for SC still now picture wondering if any1 has any ideas on this? The most important bit: leave the Screen Res window open while you play and you’re golden.īy the way, Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty is out now! Now launch Starcraft!įor whatever reason, this admittedly odd fix solves the color issue.

But I wouldn't recommend it as a dual core without HT these days are starting to feel slow with many programs running and a PSU upgrade buys peace of mind for very little, not to mention it'll save on electric bill and can be used for future builds. The most cost effective would be just getting a GPU with no PSU or CPU upgrade.

It's much more cost effective as he'll have a PC that's plenty fast for what he wants to do and he'll be able to get something much better with the saved money in a couple of years. The motherboard in hat PC isn't bad at all either if you check the reviews. Given those details, I'm betting a <$250 upgrade of PSU, 4gb ram if it doesn't have that, Phenom II x4 (assuming the included CPU is a dual core) + 6770 would last him at least 2 years. $700 is a lot to spend on a machine that only needs to play SC2 on 720p. And when he decides to do something much more power hungry that a Phenom II + 6770 can't run in a couple of years, he should get a new PC then, when $225 (cost for 6950) will buy something much better. I don't recommend a 6950 since he wouldn't need its performance for anything. Worth looking into, especially if he has an unlockable CPU already. people unlocked that motherboard but fried their onboard ethernet with the modded BIOS because the OEM mobo uses a different chip. Note the 960T can be unlocked to six core (no guarantee) if he flashes his BIOS with one that allows unlocking. it's only marginally more expensive than a 6670 but much faster, probably better built and comes with a free game.
With that, a good combo would be a quad core and a 6770. If he's willing to spend, get a new, reliable psu.ĬM isn't a great brand for power supplies.
